Its not the fact that he did ot pinch hit, it is the fact that he did not use the squeeze play with Burke on third and Taveras at the plate with one out. Garner is an idiot for that.

I disagree CjW. Taveras is not his best bunter. Taveras bunts everything for a hit and doesn't always make contact. A squeeze play absolutely requires contact or it will fail. I agree with SuperS32....

I wanted Taveras to bunt, also.But if you look at the overall picture, Garner did a great job this season.I believe he already ranks with Bill Virdon and Larry Dierker as Houston's best managers.
